TaoTronics TT-DL12 LED Desk Lamp Review

The Taotronics TT-DL12 is a really nice swing arm LED desk lamp that gets the job done for me. I was looking for a desk lamp for when I am working at my desk and this one fits the bill. I was provided a sample in exchange for a review, I just want to disclose that up front. While I did get a sample, these are my honest thoughts and feelings about this product. When I first got it, the bottom actually fell out of the box that it was in. It is a really heavy bottom but you want a sturdy base. There is a screw in the back of the lamp that you can turn to tighten how much it will turn left or right. Then, there is another bolt that you turn at the base to control the bottom angle. There are two more bolts that you can hand turn to adjust at the elbow and the top. The head swivels side-to-side as well, so this light really can be positioned anywhere and easily adjusted and locked into place with a quick turn of your hand. The top is a simple on-off flip switch, no nonsense and gets the job done. It keeps the base nice and clean and the cord is routed nicely through the arms as well. I also like how they chose to do the power cord to the base, it easily pulls out in case the cord gets tugged hard or the lamp falls. The 6W LED is at 5500 K, so it is a cool white light (not incandescent) and has a lifespan of 50,000 hours. Also included with the light is a microfiber lens cleaning cloth and an illustrated instruction manual and a 12 month warranty card. Couple things about this light that I want to bring to everyone's attention. This is just a simple, 6W LED light but it is well done and works. It is deceptively bright, at first I didn't think it was bright enough but once I got used to it I was ok with it. There is no dimmer, a function I wish it had with a brighter LED so I could control the light in this fashion as well. To increase the lighting, I have to pull the light source closer, not the end of the world but an item on my wish list for future updates. I also wish there was a USB charging port on it, Taotronics does this on some of their other lights and I think this is a nice feature to have. If they still want to keep the clean aesthetic than they can discreetly hide the ports on the back of the lamp base. Perhaps they wanted to go away from over functioning the light to just keep it simple, and if that was the case, then they did a nice job. If you want a light with more bells and whistles, Taotronics has the TT-DL09 which has dimming and even color changing LEDs so you can model an incandescent or a fluorescent source depending on your mood and the lights location.
