In conversation with Prof. Arup Varma Arup Varma, (Ph.D., Rutgers University, 1996) is a Professor of Management at the Quinlan School of Business, Loyola University Chicago. Dr. Varma joined Loyola in August 1996 and was tenured in 2002. From 2002-2007, he was Director of the Institute of HRER and Chair of the HRM Department. He holds an M.S. (1984) in PMIR from XLRI, Jamshedpur (India); and a B.S. (1982) in Economics (with honors) from St. Xavier’s College, Calcutta (India). ​At Loyola, he has received several awards — for teaching (2003; 2012), research (2004, 2011, 2017), and service (2012; 2015). In 2017, he was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award (Academics) by his alma mater, XLRI. He has been a visiting professor at Beijing International MBA (Peking University, China), Great Lakes Institute of Management (India), and XLRI (India), and a Visiting Scholar at Aston University, Birmingham (U.K.), University of Gottingen (Germany), and University of Gdansk (Poland). Dr. Varma’s research interests include performance appraisal and expatriate issues. He has published over 100 articles and book chapters in leading journals including the Academy of Management Journal, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Applied Psychology, and the International Journal of Human Resource Management, etc. He is the co-editor of five books and serves on the Editorial Board of several journals. #researchstories #loyolauniversitychicago #xlrijamshedpur
