There really isn't much to explain here, since this video mentions the resemblance between Spot/Smudge and Tiger. They were both innocent cubs at first until their path was stained by blood, they saw the lifeless body of a loved one, killing Spottedleaf's and Thistleclaw's murderers; Clawface being killed by Spotpaw and Tigerclaw killing Redtail (who in this AU was one of Thistleclaw's murderers). What set them apart was their ending and also their destinies: Spot/Smudge being destined to be one of the heroes of the prophecy and Tiger destined to be the villain.
