He shares his philosophy of patient care and more ... "I'm Doctor Resch. I'm a surgeon with Wichita Surgical Specialists and also with Vein Care Specialists. So, kind of going back to the beginning, just my general interest in in medicine as a whole was based on experience with my dad who, unfortunately, lived a very healthy lifestyle but had a lot of health issues and so he had a number of cardiac diseases, valve issues and things like that and actually had endocarditis twice, kinda as I was growing up. So, through that experience plus interactions with some of the physicians that took care of him really got me interested in medicine and also just wanted to kind of give that back. I always try to treat other, you know, my patients as my family, whether that be analogous to my children if I'm doing pediatrics, or you know ... I've had seen the other side of it because of my dad's experience. So, I know what it's like and I know what it's like for the families to try to interpret everything that’s coming at them, and try to put all that together. And so, I think that side of it is very important as a physician, to be able to translate what we're doing, to impart that, I think no matter what level or what part you play in a patient's care. So, I think that's very important. One of the great pieces of being at Wichita Surgical is the nurses and how great of a job they do because they do all the behind-the-scenes work. They do all the communication with the patients, calling them, keeping us on schedule and in line. So, I would, yeah, I would say that's another great part of this practice. I think a lot of health care now is really segmented and chopped up, and it's nice that we can kind of be the hub and just follow those patients all the way through their care, from when they come into the hospital to when they're finally, hopefully, back to their normal life and doing well. And you see them in a year follow-up and they're doing great, they're back running their tractor or you're working on the farm, and that's very rewarding to see all that work and everything payoff, and to be involved and to see …. it’s just nice. And I think in Kansas, there’s a good crop of salt-of-the-earth people that are just great to take care of, to be honest. What my wife and I and the kids like to do around Wichita on our free time … a number of different things … go swimming at the Y, go play at one of the trampoline parks in town. Go see movies. Go get ice cream at Freddy's afterwards, which usually is a pretty good draw for the kids, and hang out with friends, barbecue outside sometimes."
