GAIN STAGING and COMPRESSION confusion? #mixdownonline #homestudio #mixingaudio In today's MIXDOWN Q&A, I answer 4 questions that were sent to me and one of them has to do with GAIN STAGING and COMPRESSION. "I am kind of confused on gain staging and compressor settings, if you set the compressor on a certain track, the compression level changes when you change the Pre-Gain level." That can be very confusing for some. Pre gain is done before the signal hits the Fader and insert plugins of a channel. If you decide for some reason to Gain Stage your signal using Pre-Gain after adding a compressor on your track, the signal coming into the compressor will not have the same input level so it will affect the way the compressor will behave.
