(20 Feb 2026) RESTRICTION SUMMARY: ASSOCIATED PRESS Milan - 20 February 2026 1. Wide of womens' Team USA ice hockey speaking to press 2. Close of Aerin Frankel, USA ice hockey goaltender 3. Tilt up of gold medal to Frankel 4. SOUNDBITE (English) Aerin Frankel, USA ice hockey goaltender: "Yeah, great! It's just obviously a kind of pinch-me-moment being here in Milan still with the team with the gold medals. It's everything that we've been working towards and to be rewarded with the gold medal and be with these teammates has been incredibly special." 5. Various of Taylor Heise, USA ice hockey player, speaking to press 6. SOUNDBITE (English) Taylor Heise, USA ice hockey player: “We knew that they were going to give us their best and I think in the first it kind of took us aback a little bit. But I think by the time we got to the third period we were rolling on all cylinders and I think our team... like, usually you have to play 60 full minutes to win a game and I don't know if we did a full 60, and we still won, so I think that says a lot about our group and the resilience of the people that we have." 7. Various of cardboard cutouts of Team USA women’s ice hockey players 8. SOUNDBITE (English) Taylor Heise, USA ice hockey player: "Yeah, I mean the PWHL (Professional Women's Hockey League) is great and it's definitely been something that has helped me grow in the past three years. And it is an honor to play on that stage and to be a part of that special group. And I know a lot of us here that play in the PWHL are proud to be part of it and the biggest thing that we can do is continue to inspire the next generation. So I think looking ahead to 2030 we have four more years to do that, and that's four more year to inspire young girls to want to be where we're at and show them that you can be a pro and not have to have a second job." 9. Various of Abbey Murphy, USA ice hockey player, speaking to press 10. SOUNDBITE (English) Abbey Murphy, USA ice hockey player: "I went to practice two hours later, and everyone's like, Hillary got engaged! I'm, like, no, like you're kidding! So, found out later on Instagram, everyone found out, so. But no, however you find out, we're just extremely happy for her, and no one more deserving." 11. Various of players speaking to press STORYLINE: The morning after Team USA’s nail-biting victory against historic rival Canada, star goaltender Aerin Frankel called winning gold a “pinch-me-moment”. “It's everything that we've been working towards and to be rewarded with the gold medal and be with these teammates has been incredibly special,” she said. Player Taylor Heise said Canada's dominance of the beginning of the game took Team USA aback, but they were able to recoup. “We knew that they were going to give us their best," she said. "But I think by the time we got to the third period we were rolling on all cylinders." The United States captured gold with a 2-1 overtime victory over Canada, while Switzerland secured bronze in a 2-1 overtime win against Sweden. In total, nine games were decided by one goal, including four of eight in the knockout and medal rounds. These Milan Cortina Games marked a turning point for women’s hockey, serving as the first Olympics held since the launch of the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) in 2023. The league has provided elite players with consistent, high-level competition and development opportunities between international tournaments. A number of the players credited the PWHL for strengthening competition in women’s hockey.
