The Edmonton Elks kept their playoff hopes alive with a gritty 25-20 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on a cold, wet night at Commonwealth Stadium. Now 7-9, the Elks have won three of their last five games and must sweep their final two, including a season-ending clash with Calgary, to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2019. Justin Rankin’s 64-yard touchdown run on a third-down gamble and Kordell Jackson’s 47-yard fumble return sparked a 14-point surge in the third quarter, giving Edmonton a 25-10 lead. Winnipeg rallied late, but the Elks’ defence held firm with three third-down stops to seal the win. Cody Fajardo had a rushing touchdown in the first half, while JJ Ross’s interception set up a missed field goal that still gave Edmonton an 11-10 halftime lead. Winnipeg’s Chris Streveler and Brady Oliveira, who surpassed 1,000 rushing yards for the fourth straight season, provided the Bombers’ early highlights.
