This video will show you How To Cook Sinigang Na Baboy at Hipon. Sinigang is a Filipino dish soup or stew that has a SOUR taste. It is also considered the country’s National Food or shall we say, Comfort Food! If one ask what makes this soup sour? The most common ingredient that comes to mind is the tamarind or sampalok in Filipino. It is a sticky brown acidic pulp from the pod of a tree of the pea family and is native to Asia and Africa and other tropical regions or countries. Since we live in a 4 seasons country out of the said region, we can only rely on commercialized or store bought tamarind mix as what we have shown in the video. It might not be as unique and genuine when it comes to taste but it’s good enough to satisfy our cravings. Please do try this recipe if you haven’t. You’ll be surprised how good it is especially if you live in a place where it’s currently cold right now. Happy cooking everyone! Ingredients: 1 ½ lbs. pork belly ( ¾ kilo) 10-15 pcs. medium size shrimp 3-4 cloves of garlic, minced 1 medium size onion, chopped 2-3 medium size tomatoes, cut in mini chunks string beans (optional) white raddish (optional) napa/ pechay or round cabbage (optional) 1 tbsp sinigang/ tamarind mix (add more if preferred) 3 tbsp.
