Most didn't even believe what humanity used to have… there had only ever been the underground. The people of the largest city had been trying to find a way to save themselves for as long as anyone could remember and had been working tirelessly for centuries, pouring over data and experimenting with long-dead surface tech to finally leave Earth. ============================================================ Eulogy: The survivors had been experimenting with old NASA drones still orbiting Earth. With barely enough power and fuel left, it would be nearly impossible to land them again… however, they could use the power cores to launch their own shuttles loaded with human embryos and the greatest minds and soldiers in the colony. "Sir, we have loaded the cannon, just waiting for a visual" "The drones are 30 seconds out, prepare to fire" "Fire at will" "Sir we have two confirmed non-direct hits, The drones are going down six hundred kilometers to the south and two thousand kilometers to the West" "We will have to send recovery drones right away to retrieve the cores" And so after a month-long mission, the cores were retrieved… Would humanity finally be able to leave or would they all be swallowed by the sun… ============================================================ Sols Final Gift: Sol was getting more unstable as time went on, it had long since eaten Mercury and Venus… The sun was just longing to claim Earth… The survivors had been building two shuttles in “the hangar” for ten years, the material needed came from the surface which hindered progress massively. There had also been a rival faction gaining popularity whose ideology threatened humanity's escape plans. This group would target key assets halting heat shield production “Sir, Sol’s Gift has wiped out another facility taking some of our best scientists with it.
