​ Peggie Castle (born Peggy Thomas Blair, December 22, 1927 – August 11, 1973) was an American actress known for her roles in 1950s Hollywood B-movies and for her role in the TV series Lawman. She was often cast as the "other woman," the femme fatale, or the ambiguously charming supporting character. She was discovered by a talent scout while having lunch at a Beverly Hills restaurant. She signed a contract with Universal and began landing roles in adventure films, westerns, and noir films. Her most famous role was as Lily Merrill in the western series Lawman (1959–1962), where she played the owner of the saloon "The Birdcage." Her career slowed down in the 1960s. She suffered from alcoholism, which worsened after her retirement from acting in 1964. Peggie Castle died on August 11, 1973, in Hollywood, at the age of 45, from cirrhosis of the liver caused by alcoholism.
