Located near the mahanavami dibba, this stepped well served both practical and ritualistic purposes during the time of the Vijayanagara empire This stepped well features a unique design with a series of steps leading down to a large water tank, allowing easy access to water. The well is shaped like an upside-down pyramid, with multiple levels of steps cascading downwards. It is approximately 100 feet deep, with around 3,500 steps that descend through 13 stories, creating a visually stunning structure. Constructed from locally sourced stone, the well exhibits intricate carvings and motifs that reflect the artistic style of the Vijayanagara period. This stepped well was primarily used for ritual bathing and cleansing before prayers, playing a vital role in the spiritual practices of the time. A short walk of approximately 5-10 minutes from mahanavami dibba leads to this chamber. This chamber is approximately 30 feet long, 20 feet wide, and 12 feet deep. This chamber has narrow corridors and is dimly lit. Some theories suggest that the chamber may have been used to store valuable items, including treasures and important documents.
