In this video we are going to explain how to install Virtual Machines on Apple Silicon ARM64 processor architecture using UTM and downloading Ubuntu ARM64 supporting image/operation system (OS). Also, you will learn and understand what a virtual machine and virtualization are in real-world cases and scenarios. Then we continue by showing you how to install the Ubuntu Server Graphical User Interface (GUI) using the ubuntu-desktop command. UTM (Universal Virtual Machine) is a virtualization app that can run various operating systems on a Mac, including Ubuntu on an M1-based MacBook Pro. Here are the steps to install Ubuntu on a Mac and MacBook Pro M1, M2, M3, M4 M Max, Pro, Ultra Chipset using UTM: Download and install the UTM app from the Mac App Store. Download the latest version of Ubuntu for ARM64 architecture from the official website. Open UTM and click the "+" button to create a new virtual machine. Choose "Linux" as the guest operating system and "Ubuntu (64-bit)" as the version. Set the amount of memory and CPU cores that you want to allocate to the virtual machine. Click "Create" to create the new virtual machine. In the virtual machine settings, click "Storage" and then click the "+" button to add a new disk image. Choose "Create new disk image" and set the size of the disk image to at least 20 GB. In the "Media" section, select the Ubuntu ISO file you downloaded in step 2 as the installation media. Click "Start" to start the virtual machine and begin the Ubuntu installation process. Follow the Ubuntu installation wizard to install Ubuntu on the virtual machine. Once the installation is complete, restart the virtual machine and log in to Ubuntu. You can then use Ubuntu on your M1, M2, M3, M4-based MacBook Pro through UTM. Keep in mind that virtualization can be resource-intensive and may affect the performance of your Mac, so it's recommended to allocate sufficient resources to the virtual machine to ensure smooth operation. Apple ARM64 is a type of processor architecture used by Apple in some of its devices, such as iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers. ARM64 is a type of processor architecture developed by ARM Holdings, which is optimized for power efficiency and performance. Apple began using ARM64 processors in its mobile devices in 2013, starting with the iPhone 5S, and in 2020, the company announced that it would transition its Mac computers from Intel processors to its own ARM64 processors, known as Apple Silicon. The ARM64 architecture is based on a 64-bit instruction set, which enables devices to handle more data at once than the previous 32-bit architecture. This allows for faster processing and more efficient use of system resources, resulting in longer battery life for mobile devices. Overall, Apple ARM64 processors are known for their high performance, power efficiency, and integration with Apple's software ecosystem, making them a popular choice for Apple's devices.
