Indonesia is home to some of the world’s most breathtaking underwater landscapes. While Raja Ampat and Komodo are well-known diving hotspots, the Banda Sea has become one of my personal favorites. Once a key player in the global nutmeg trade, the Banda Islands now hold a different kind of treasure—beneath the surface. Diving here feels like entering a world painted by nature itself. Vibrant coral reefs (at times, it looked like someone had spilled a bucket of paint across them), massive schools of fish, and unforgettable encounters with hammerhead sharks and sea snakes make this a truly magical place. I can only hope these unique ecosystems will receive the protection they so urgently need.
