General Purpose Register (GPR) plays a key role in any computer architecture. This video talks about the structure of General Purpose Registers (GPR) of the x86 instruction set architecture. The video gives a brief introduction to Program Status Word (PSW) that is one of the most important register also called FLAG Register. Assembly languages are heavily dependent on the registers especially in x86 Architecture. The video goes on to explain some of the significant features of a few registers that are used to point towards special memory locations such as the stack, code, data, and extended memory for using extra memory. This is what made the idea of segmented memory became a possibility and hence the multitasking concept was born.
