Nothing beats a wide guitar mix that sounds like it exceeds the bounds of your speakers. Most people assume that the trick to achieving a super wide heavy guitar sound is to implement stereo wideners and other fancy mix trickery. I'm here to argue that there's a better way. I prefer to do it the natural way. My favorite way to achieve an ultra-wide guitar sound is to subtly manipulate a single variable between my left and right guitar performances. A wider guitar tone can be achieved naturally simply by: using a different guitar on your left and right rhythm tracks varying your amp (or amp sim) choice between your left and right guitar tracks vary the cab that you're using But my all time favorite way to add extra width to my guitar tracks is to vary the mic placement between my left and right guitar tracks. I love this technique not only because it's super simple and doesn't require the use of a second amp, amp sim or guitar.. but because it's extremely effective and results in a fat tone that's both cohesive AND wide. Here's the good news: you don't need to be using live amps with microphones in order to achieve this effect. You can achieve the exact same result by using two different impulse responses with the same amp sim. ► Website - https://frightboxrecordingacademy.com/ ► Facebook - / frightboxrecording ► Instagram - / frightboxrecording All music in video mixed and mastered @ http://www.frightboxrecording.com
