TOUR OF BASEL | Switzerland’s City of Fountains!

BASEL SWITZERLAND: One day in the city of a thousand fountains visiting Basel Minster which overlooks the Rhine River, an old city gate called the Spalentor & taking a tour of Basel city centre. 🇱🇮 🇨🇭 See all my videos from this trip here → https://bit.ly/mwt_SwitzLiecht Having failed to find a reasonably priced walking tour around the city of Basel I decided to do my own. With a little research and planning I was able to find plenty of tourist attractions to visit - many of which were right in the city centre of Basel. I started my day at Barfüsserplatz and walked across to the Tinguely Fountain (Tinguely Brunnen) and the theatre building. Whilst there I looked around the grand neo-gothic Offene Kirche Elisabethen. I then walked over to Minster Cathedral Square (Münsterplatz) to soak up some of the summer atmosphere and took a look inside the impressive 9th century double spired Basel Minster. I really enjoyed visiting this part of the city and seeing the wonderful views out across the Rhine River from Palatinate Viewing Platform (Basler Pfalz) next to the smallest ferry network I’ve ever seen - Jetty of the Minster Leu. I briefly crossed the river (using the Mittlere Brücke Bridge not the ferry) and wandered around the small alleyways and quaint squares, seeing plenty of local cafes and bars on my walk. I saw more adorable fountains than I care to remember and it was delightful passing so many colourful flowers and gardens across the city. My self-guided tour of Basel took me next to a 15th century city gate called the Spalentor, and then onto the red sandstone Basel Town Hall looking out across a historic marketplace.
