We’re in the final pass with the roof repair company, dialing in the quote after multiple site visits, questions, revisions, and a lot of patience. After months of searching, at last I found a fearless chimney sweep willing to bring the chimneys back to life. I always knew it was possible — I just had to find Françoise "The Oui Man" Huge thanks to my neighbor Christian for the referral through his cousin Jean-Claude this 'moving to a new country and trying to renovate a chateau thing' truly, does take a village! After months of polite nudging my other awesome neighbor Mathilde convinces me to join her yoga class, held inside a deconsecrated church that is absolutely breathtaking. A much-needed moment of serenity in all the madness. . Meanwhile, Vince and I spend two very wet days in the rain giving the château a proper balcony bath. Years of mossy slime and black pollution come off the balcony and part of the turrets, and watching the stone reappear is deeply satisfying.
