This video documents my first time snowshoeing and a real-world review of the G2 Model 930 (9x30) snowshoes. I took these snowshoes out on a short winter hike at a local lake to see how they perform in different conditions before committing to longer trails. At first, snowshoeing felt a little clunky adjusting to a footprint nearly three times the size of my boot definitely took some getting used to. But after a few minutes, my stride evened out and I was walking comfortably. The G2 Model 930 snowshoes performed extremely well in loose snow, packed snow, and icy conditions. The built-in crampons provided excellent traction, making it easy to walk across the frozen lake without slipping. For a beginner snowshoer, they felt stable, secure, and easy to learn. I really enjoyed this winter hiking experience, and this was a great introduction to snowshoeing. I’ll definitely be heading out on more snowshoe hikes in the near future — possibly tackling the Switchback Trail or even a winter hike on the Appalachian Trail. If you’re new to snowshoeing or looking for a reliable, beginner-friendly snowshoe for winter hiking, the G2 Model 930 (9x30) is worth checking out. If you have trekking poles I recommend using them to help with balance even on flat surfaces until you have some time to get used to the snowshoes.
