This video is an updated version of the previous Episode II. It enhanced the documentation of the three progressively realistic models of the Corner Cafe case, and included more results of the simulation runs. The original description, which is still correct, is included below. This video continues the tutorial provided in Episode I. It covers three more representative classes of discrete event simulation concepts and Arena techniques: 1. Customers' demand patterns change during the day (non-stationary Poison arrival process); 2. Customers have flexible requests (job shop type of workflows); and 3. Multiple genres of entities share common logic that needs to be consolidated to avoid unwieldy modeling (flexible and integrated representation). New classes of Arena techniques introduced include Advanced Transfer and Advanced Processes. The typing concept and construction of data arrays are highlighted. Computation of statistics and DISC function are also featured. The Corner Cafe case continues to guide the modeling. The viewer can compare the structure and performance of these three new models with those of the original model in Episode I. The original optimal design of resources is proven to remain optimal in each of these modeling extensions.
