Demo of my Ampeg V-4B Reissue bass head. This one was built in December 2023 (essentially a 2024 model) and has less than 20 hours on a full set of JJ tubes (JJ 6L6GC power tubes and JJ preamp tubes). I purchased it last week and biased it using a Furman power conditioner for consistent voltage. The output tubes are closely matched within 3 mA and idling at an average of 42 mA with 411 V on the plates. That equals about 53% dissipation, right in the sweet spot for tone, tube life, and reliability. This amp sounds incredible, delivering the classic Ampeg punch, warmth, and authority in a 100-watt all-tube bass head. For players who love the SVT sound but want a lighter, more manageable head, the V-4B is the perfect alternative. I am selling this amp only because my car’s ABS ECU failed this week and the repair bill is nearly $2,500. Otherwise, I would be keeping it.
