Premiere: December 19, 2010 — Auditorio de Radio Nacional. Cuarteto Oblicuo investigates the harmonic and multiphonic fabric of the string quartet through a writing grounded in resonance and instrumental anatomy. Harmonics function not as coloristic additions but as structural agents: their instability, projection, and friction organize the vertical field and shape the temporal flow. The piece develops from a principle of resonant empathy between instruments, where gesture extends the acoustic behavior of the strings into spatial articulation. In homage to the ensemble, the form follows an oblique trajectory — a diagonal vector unfolding in time — through which density, spectrum, and energy gradually reconfigure the sonic landscape. Rather than thematic contrast, the work articulates its singularity through syntax: through the specific way materials incline, intersect, and sustain tension across the duration.
