The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) Wind Symphony presented a special concert to commemorate the 50th anniversary year of the Stonewall Uprising in 2019. Exclusively featuring works by LGBTQ+ composers, the performance featured Omar Thomas' "A Mother of a Revolution." The piece is a celebration of the bravery of transwomen, particularly Marsha "Pay it No Mind" Johnson, a pioneering leader of the LGBTQ+ rights movement and Stonewall Uprising. The concert also featured Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man," Higdon's "Mysterium," Clay Mettens' "Un-Masqued" and Corigliano's "Mr. Tambourine Man." The performance was presented on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019, in CCM's state-of-the-art Corbett Auditorium.
