The Evolution, Essentials, and the Future of Simulation Based Education

Pamela R. Jeffries, PhD, RN, FAAN, ANEF, Professor and Dean of George Washington University School of Nursing, is internationally known for her research and work in nursing, simulation and health care education. Throughout the academic community, she is well regarded for her scholarly contributions to the development of innovative teaching strategies, experiential learning techniques, new pedagogies and the delivery of content using technology. This presentation will provide a foundation on the evidence and best practices of incorporating simulations into a health profession program. Strategies and practices from the evidence will be discussed along with an overview regarding the future uses and trajectory of clinical simulations. Due to the global pandemic, the use of virtual clinical simulations has been required. Exemplars demonstrating the use of virtual simulations and activities and resources will be presented.
