Revision spine surgery is when a second operation is required after an initial spine surgery. This can be for several reasons — and understanding why is important for patients facing this possibility. In this video, I explain: • Recurrent slipped discs after discectomy • Recurrent spinal stenosis or instability after decompression • Adjacent segment disease after fusion (cervical and lumbar) • Failure of a fusion construct (e.g. broken hardware or screw placement issues) • When revision surgery may be appropriate As a spinal surgeon, I’ve treated many patients in this situation. This video is to help you understand the scenarios where revision surgery might be needed, what it involves, and what patients should know before making decisions. There are multiple professionals (surgeons, physiotherapists, chiropractors, osteopaths and more) who treat back and spine problems.
