Political Repression: Then and Now
H-PAD has organized a stellar lineup of experts who have studied state repression of movements throughout US history, including: Robin D.G. Kelley (UCLA) David Cole (Georgetown Law) Ellen Schrecker (Yeshiva University) We'll discuss the history of political repression in the United States. The panelists will share expertise from their research and experiences to illuminate topics such as Jim Crow repression against Black people, attacks on civil liberties, FBI surveillance, and the various Red Scares, linking these past examples to current attacks on social movements and civil rights. Join us on Monday, March 10 for this live conversation, moderated by Margaret Power, co-chair of Historians for Peace and Democracy.
