Discovering GRAVEL Riding and PEACE in the BRECON BEACONS

In the search for the types of gravel trails I've had in my head, I packed my bike, helmet, and cycling shoes in the van and headed out for an adventure in the Brecon Beacon National Park for a few days of discovery. Day two saw more bad weather and a scrapped plan to ride uncharted (or at least unused in Strava heat map) bridal paths over the summit of Black Mountain - so I opted for a ride in Brynffo and Esgair Fwyog - a mixed bag - technical MTB trails (made much worse by the weather) and incredible gravel tracks, views - and - quite the moment Zen - of peace and tranquility that I wasn't expecting. The trip to Brecon, for me, was more than riding my bike - it was a challenge to myself to see how I coped with the silence, peace and quiet, the solitude, the 'boredom' without drinking… let's see if the sanity continues! I'm looking forward to the spring and coming back here in full bike-packing mode!!
