THE COST OF CANNABIS, THE PRICE OF POT. What is the bottom line? How will the price of pot change if it is decriminalised, legalised or Re-Legalised? Based on R100 for a gram, a bankie or whatever you are currently getting, what will the new prices be? Decriminalised Cannabis means you are allowed to possess small amounts or grow a few plants legally, but once introduced, they always come with mandatory minimum prison sentences. This means if you are caught with 1 gram or one plant extra, you will go to jail for 10 or 15, and if you are caught selling it's automatically 20 years. As a result of the increased risk, the price will triple over night. That's R300 a gram. With legalisation, initially the price does not go up that much. You will just be required to pay for a permit at R20. That permit will cover everything. BUT, the government will keep adding new requirements like doctor's recommendations, Department of Home Affairs approval, police clearance certificates, etc. They will also tax the cultivators per plant and per watt of electricity. Distributors will have to pay special taxes. Every year these will increase. And don't forget 14% VAT. Look what happened to the casinos. In 1994, there were thousands of small casino's but the big corporate branded casino's demanded regulation, and today all the small casinos are closed and ONLY the huge corporate branded casinos exist. The small guys were regulated out the market. The same will happen with Cannabis, and that is why the only organisations that are calling for taxation and legal regulation are the big corporate branded groups. That way, it can be taxed and regulated out of your hands into THEIR hands, and their crony's in government. This means the price will increase every year by at least 25%, plus 14% VAT. Pay, pay, pay, pay, pay. And once you agree to pay for a permit, because permit means permission, it's a) not a Human Right, and b) your permit can be revoked. That's R150, R200, R250 etc Name me one person in government who has called for the complete Re-Legalisation of Cannabis? None of them, but if legally regulated, it will be the government who regulates it. Someone who is 100% opposed to you growing and smoking will be in charge. It will be regulated out your hands. How was Cannabis made illegal in the first place? Through tax and regulation! In the USA it was through the Marijuana Tax Stamp Act where no one was issued a stamp, and in South Africa it was regulated so (black) people could only smoke at the mines. Re-Legalisation means the market will be open, true capitalism, and not regulated or taxed. It means the price will drop while the quality will increase. So R70, then R50 for the highest quality Cannabis on the planet. Decriminalisation means mandatory minimums of 15 years in prison and destroys lives. Legalisation means corporate monopolization, massive taxation, regulation out of your hands and ever increasing prices. Re-Legalisation means cheaper prices, better quality and freedom. You choose.
