Facial features, texture detail, shadows and natural lighting improves, producing more realistic images that can be applied to Veo3 to animate into 8 second clips. None of this is 'magic' however, you do need to be able to use your own artistry/skills to produce a proper baseline for Veo3 to work on. Keeping characters to look consistent between clips (and their voices) do require multiple generations, and sometimes there is no solution but to apply voiceovers.
