Cell junctions or intercellular bridges are a class of cellular structures consisting of multiprotein complexes that provide contact or adhesion between neighbouring cells or between a cell and the extracellular matrix in animals. The important cell junctions in animal are tight junctions, adherence junctions, gap junctions, desmosomes, hemidesmos etc. Desmosomes are one of the important cellular junctions that create a transcellular network throughout a tissue that resist forces of mechanical stress. They are composed of two specialized nonclassical cadherin proteins known as desmoglein and desmocollin. These proteins make heterophilic interactions among themselves at the extracellular space with the help of calcium of one cell with the adjoining cell. The cytoplasmic tail portion of the Proteins bind with some adaptor proteins such as plakophilin, plakoglobin etc. and form plaques at cytoplasmic site of the adjacent cells. The intermediate filaments like keratin binds to the plaques via another protein known as Desmoplakin. In this video I have discussed all in detail. #molecular_structure_and_functions_of_desmosome #desmosome #am_biologie_notes 1) Biology in Bengali Version- Biology Mirror- / @biologymirror2020 2) Facebook Page- / ambiologienotes 3) Instagram TV- www.instagram.com/amitmaity2020 To subscribe my channel click the following link: / @ambiologienotes2020 The following videos may help you: 1) ELISpot Assay: • ELISpot Assay : Introduction, Method & App... 2) Antibody Classes: • Immunoglobulin Classes and Properties | An... 3) Histology of Blood: • Histology of Human Blood: RBC, WBC, & Plat... 4) Plastic Pollution: • Plastic Pollution | Causes, Effects and Co...
