Corona is our Chance: It seems that every generation has its own challenges, and that the Corona pandemic is our challenge today...and yet, especially in difficult times, solutions are sometimes easier than you think. So what is our opportunity in this pandemic-ridden time? In this R-Talk, René Vögtli turns his attention to world traveller, book author and Reiki teacher Frank Arjava Petter. It is a conversation about freedom, about presence and about lived spirituality. What is really important to me? It is precisely in this reflection that our chance for real change may lie, especially today. It is not just that many of us have more time to be with ourselves. Corona flushes everything to the surface, our fear as well as our anger, our lack of trust in the state as well as the "otherness" of the "other". Corona just throws everything relentlessly up and lays it on the table so that we can look at it and process it ... and just as a crocheted piece of needlework can be unribbed, so the tangles and tangles we have created in our thoughts can be unravelled with a stroke. But what does it take? How can we get to the bottom of ourselves? "Basically people don't suffer from karma but from their own unawareness". In the conversation with Frank Arjava Petter, the training of our conscious being comes to the fore. By reminding ourselves again and again to be present in every moment and to be fully aware of this moment with all our senses - be it in meditation, be it during a Reiki treatment, be it while swimming or even while riding a motorbike. For Arjava it means to consciously perceive freedom in this moment. And he succeeds again and again, especially when riding a motorbike. ...Freedom does not mean letting oneself go. On the contrary, it means to him being incredibly responsible for everything we do, what we think, what we say. External freedom, however, is reflected in the experience of inner stillness, during meditation or during a Reiki application. This is what we all have in common and where we are not separate, where we are one with everyone and with everything that is. So awareness can become our key to unravelling our Gordian knots to some extent at this time. "All that matters to me is the love that I have in my heart. Everything else is meaningless." Biography  Frank Arjava Petter lived in Japan for twelve years where he operated a language school, a translation/interpretation service and a therapy centre. He presently lives with his family in Eressos, Lesbos Island, Greece and teaches Reiki, Meditation and Family Constellations (family therapy) worldwide.  Arjava is originally German, but has lived and worked abroad most of his adult life. His professional career has taken him from being an organic farmer to working as a motion picture set decorator, from being a photographer to upgrading and repairing computers. He has worked in construction, as a therapist as well as being one of the personal body- guards and gardeners of the Indian Mystic and Meditation Master, Osho. This wide variety of jobs has taught him how to work with people of all ages from different races, cultures and backgrounds. Arjava has been teaching Reiki since 1993 but his deeper and internationally celebrated involvement with Reiki began when he "discovered” the grave and memorial of Reiki founder Mikao Usui in Tokyo and original documents by Usui and his students.  His research culminated in the publication of his international bestselling books translated into 22 languages (see Publications). Presently he spends his days writing inspirational texts and fiction to be published in the near future.
