On 7 November 2025, New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) faced a major aviation disruption — nearly 400 flights delayed or grounded after suspected GPS spoofing incidents and an air-traffic-control system glitch. ✈️ What happened? For the first time at IGIA, fake GPS signals interfered with aircraft navigation, forcing diversions and landing/ take-off changes. The main runway’s Instrument Landing System (ILS) was under upgrade, increasing reliance on GPS-based navigation, making flights more vulnerable. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched an inquiry into the spoofing incidents, citing national-security risks. Airline operations were thrown off schedule: longer holds, diversions to Jaipur and Lucknow, and widespread passenger impact. 🔍 Why it matters: Navigation systems using GPS are critical for modern aviation. Spoofing (i.e., fake satellite signals) can feed wrong location data to aircraft, creating serious safety hazards. With India’s busiest airport handling up to 1,550 flights daily, even a brief anomaly can ripple through the whole network. 📌 What’s next: Authorities are fast-tracking ILS upgrades to reduce GPS dependency. Airlines are being issued alerts and are revising approach/landing protocols for the affected airspace. Passengers are advised to check with airlines about possible delays and alternate arrangements. ✅ Don’t forget to LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and HIT THE BELL ICON for updates on aviation news, national security developments, and latest headlines. 🔗 Share this video if you found it useful and comment below your thoughts: Could such tech threats become a routine risk for civil aviation? #aftermath #delhiairport #igialanding #gpsspoofing #aviationsecurity #flightdelayindia #airtrafficcontrol #dgcaindia #indianaviation #aviationnews #airlinesindia #traveldisruption #indiatoday #breakingnews
