Male Fertility Testing Explained - Dr Shah's Clinic

Worried about Male fertility? How do you test for infertility in a male? What is male fertility testing. In this short video, I will explain and give you a brief overview about the various tests for male infertility. The most basic and most effective male fertility test is called the semen analysis. Its the 1st test you must take if you are looking out for a male fertility test. The normal sperm test results for a fertile male are derived from the WHO 2010 Andrology laboratory guideline values. They are as follows 1. Semen volume should be in the range of 1.3 ml to 1.7 ml 2. Sperm concentration should be in the range of 13 to 16 million per ml 3. Sperm motility should be in the range of 31 to 33 percent 4. The normal appearing sperms should be 3% to 4% The next male fertility testing is assessment of the male reproductive hormones. These hormones are produced in the brain from a structure called the pituitary. We basically look at 6 male sex hormones in general when testing for male infertility. The last male fertility tests is doing an Ultrasound scan to look at the testis and the other associated structure. We strictly do not recommend ultrasound scans in all patients though!.
