For my last day in Vermont VRS threw me a nice parting gift in the way of CSO 2038 leading the GMRC 263 from Rutland to Bellows Falls. I was stoked to get this engine leading a freight in daylight, as it was one of the main motivating factors for taking the trip in the first place, and my efforts of chasing VRS all weekend tracking the two leased geeps payed off. The 2038 is unique as not only does it still wear the former RailAmerica red, white and blue paint scheme, but also has the honor of being the last of the second generation EMD high hoods left operating in all of New England. That being said, it was pretty sick to see it lead a road freight in 2026, not to mention the neat trailing lash-up of a VTR SD70M-2, the PW 2010 and a GMTX Smurf. The sun even came out for the first time all trip and was cooperative for a good portion of the run, can't beat that! Here you'll see the 263 as they make their way over the former Green Mountain Railroad Co.'s Bellows Falls Subdivision to Bellows Falls, as well as RDBD's early morning departure from Rutland and a small chase to Brandon. Enjoy!
