Featured is an instructive chess game between Ziaur Rahman and Daniil Dubov from the Gibraltar Masters 2014. Arising from the Dutch Leningrad, White opts against the typical c4 advance, choosing instead a double-fianchetto setup. Dubov responds with a plan involving rerouting the queen’s knight to e7 and ultimately preparing a double-fianchetto setup of his own. A key moment comes after 15...f4, when Dubov establishes an invasive pawn. Rahman’s idea from there proves faulty, allowing Dubov to successfully win the pawn structure battle. By move 18, Dubov obtains a decisive advantage, which he converts with ease, forcing resignation in just 30 moves. #DaniilDubov Image of Daniil Dubov by Lennart Ootes lennartootes.com I'm a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8.
