Lawangeen Abdulrahimzai is a name that will live in infamy. A psychotic killer and convicted drug dealer, claiming to be a 14-year-old child, was admitted to the UK to live with a foster carer and attend the local school. Imagine, a vicious, bloodthirsty thug was placed among children because the rules did not allow Border Force officials to act on the evidence before their eyes. Despite Abdulrahimzai obviously looking considerably older than his claimed age, it was two years before the Merton process (conducted by experts, including sociologists) could establish something close to his true age. It was shortly after this that he murdered Thomas Roberts, a young man who dreamed of serving his country as a Royal Marine. Such is the sickening abuse of our overwhelmed asylum system which threatens innocent, unsuspecting people. The simple truth is that a protective web of laws and absurdly permissive rules favouring anyone who utters the word, ‘asylum’ is now firmly in place. This, even when it threatens the safety and security of the British people. It seems, at no point are the interests of our citizens taken into account. We get the impression that it is only those who arrive, usually without passports and spin a yarn, who matter. The public are fed to the back teeth with the assault on their rights and wellbeing by those who lie and cheat their way into the country, have no right to be here and go on to commit heinous crimes. The fact is that the UK has become a magnet for failed asylum seekers from all over Europe due to our lax rules. France rejects applicants at nearly three times the rate we do. Abdulrahimzai was refused asylum in Norway before coming here. The UK is a soft touch! And that is precisely why illegal boat arrivals have shot up. Let’s face it, as things are, it is only a matter of time before another Abdulrahimzai pops up to kill or injure another unsuspecting innocent. This cannot go on.
