Romans 16:19,20 There is no denying that Satan has power but it is our lot to tread upon serpents and scorpions and over ALL the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). Demons are meant to be subject unto us through the name of Jesus (Luke 10:17; Mark 9:38; Acts 16:18). The Roman believers had a zeal to live for God in truth. They had a reputation of wanting to obey the Word of God. This brought much joy to Paul. So he admonished them to “be wise in what is good, and innocent in what is evil”. This is the pathway to personal freedom. God expects us to move in faith and courage and tread upon this serpent, trample and bruise him under our feet (Romans 16:20; Genesis 3:15). We need to shake off the garments of weakness and the spirit of fear, put on the whole armour of God, the spirit of love, power and a sound mind and begin to bruise Satan under our feet (2 Timothy 1:7; Ephesians 6:12-18; 1 Thessalonians 5:8). 1) STEADFASTNESS OF THE FAITHFUL: 👇👇👇 Romans 16:19; 2 Corinthians 10:6; Isaiah 54:14-17; 1:19; 1 John 5:18; 1 Peter 3:9-13; Matthew 6:33; John 14:30 “For your obedience is come abroad unto ALL men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil” (Romans 16:19). The obedience of the Roman christians is here commended. It was publicly known and attested to by ALL men and this rejoiced the apostle’s heart. What else can better rejoice a pastor’s heart than to see his congregation walking and living in the truth (1 Thessalonians 3:8; 2 John 4; 3 John 3,4). He therefore further encouraged them to holy living. Obedience and righteousness pave the way to spiritual victory and triumph over the enemy. God will avenge all disobedience when our own obedience is complete (2 Corinthians 10:6; Isaiah 54:14-17; 1 John 5:18; 1 Peter 3:12,13). When there is no property of the devil in our house or life (John 14:30), then we have the privilege of bringing the devil to God for judgement and casting out (John 12:31; 16:11; Jude 9; Zechariah 3:2). Obedience surely brings blessing just as righteousness guarantees victory and dominion (1 Peter 3:9-13; Isaiah 1:19; Matthew 6:33). 2) STRATEGY OF THE FATHER: 👇👇👇 Romans 16:20; Psalm 142:6; 145:14; 146:7-9; Jeremiah 31:11; Isaiah 49:24-26; 61:1-3; 1 John 3:8; Acts 10:38 “And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly” (Romans 16:20). Satan has never invented anything good but confusion and oppression (Isaiah 14:16,17). Here the God of peace is contrasted with the Satan of pandemonium and confusion. God is the God of peace (Romans 15:33; 16:20; 2 Thessalonians 3:16; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Philippians 4:9; Hebrews 13:20). He likes to stamp out confusion, trouble, pandemonium etc. wherever He finds it. This is why He sent His Son Jesus Christ to destroy all the works of the devil (1 John 3:8; Acts 10:38). God is for us and is on our side (Psalm 118:6; 108:12,13; 60:11,12; Romans 8:31-33). He has decided to be our helper, to plead our cause, to handle our case (Hebrews 13:6; Psalm 145:14; 146:7-9; Isaiah 49:24-26; 61:1-3). He has decided to redeem us from the hand of the terrible strongman (Psalm 142:6; Jeremiah 31:11). God has decided not leave our welfare in the hands of angels. He has decided to see to it personally. It is the God of peace Himself who shall bruise Satan under our feet. And if God is undertaking to do the bruising, how shall Satan escape bruising? This is the blessed, unsurpassable strategy of the Father. 3) SHORTLY UNDER OUR FEET: 👇👇👇 Romans 16:20; Genesis 3:15; Luke 10:17-19; 9:1,2; Mark 9:38; Acts 16:18; 10:38; Matthew 16:18; 10:1,8. “And the God of peace shall bruise Satan UNDER YOUR FEET SHORTLY” (Romans 16:20). This verse brings out some salient points and insight. What is to be done? – Bruise Satan. Who will do it? – The God of peace. Where will it be done? – Under our feet. When will it be done? – Shortly. The Greek word translated “bruise” is the word “suntribo” which means to crush in pieces, to utterly defeat and bring to helplessness (Matthew 12:20; Mark 5:4; 14:3; Luke 4:18; 9:39; John 19:36; Revelation 2:27). Satan is called the old serpent (Revelation 12:7-9). Serpents crawl on the ground. Men walk and can use their heels to bruise the head of the old serpent (Genesis 3:15). Let Satan be bruised under your feet TODAY! God has promised to do it shortly. Now is the time. Don’t postpone your day of victory
