The average retro rom is about 0.128 Megabyte to 700 Megabytes. When you emulate video game consoles that use optical drives, having a fast storage device, like a HDD or SSD will help games load much faster. In addition, Batocera Linux will load up faster, and you will be able to copy large rom files much more quickly than using a USB flash drive.
