A bit of bad luck and a narrowly missed line lead to a pin on cheese grater. The paddler made the decision to be safe and get out of the situation and took a swim down the rest of the rapid. He was fine other than a cut on his fingers, and the boat rescue was safely pulled off between a group of us. I went in on a line that was securely held by 4 paddlers who then used a pully system to haul in the boat, using a second line that I clipped onto the grab handle. After trying to wade in and dislodge the boat by kicking it I decided that jumping to the exposed rock just below the boat was the best way to get close to it. The boat had a couple of dents that popped out but was otherwise fine! Throwlines, carabiners and pullies were all used, take your safety kit on the river!
