Wide shot of women and children STORYLINE: The Indira Ghandi hospital in Afghanistan's capital, Kabul, has re-opened for the first time in five years. In the centre of the city, the hospital first opened in 1979 with an Indian government grant. But when the Taliban came to power the Indian government couldn't get supplies through and the hospital was forced to close. Five days ago that changed. Six tons worth of medicines arrived with three doctors, three paramedics and a hospital co-ordinator. They estimate the medicines will last 15 days - more will be coming. But it hasn't all gone smoothly. Despite what they brought the doctors are finding they still lack some medications. Proper sanitation at the building is also a problem. Medical Specialist Doctor Tukharan says Afghans are coming from all over to get help. The patients are mainly being treated for pneumonia, viral infections like the flu, and problems caused by bad water. The doctors say about 175 and 200 patients are being treated at the hospital each day.
