Firstly, as usual, trail time links are just here to skip ahead past the waffle if you wish! Blue Cheese Roller : 2:25 Blue Raccoon : 5:55 Red Dubby Skipper : 8:00 red Igneous : 9:40 The Left Reds : 12:35 (Kinky Hose, Missing Link & Pinball Wizard) Black Super Fly : 15:30 Black Kentucky Kreaker : 18:45 Black Deer Knuckle : 19:30 Pretty good weather for December and ripe for a trip down to the 417 Bike Park. Got a first ride of the new trails since they opened earlier in the year as well as hitting all the other trails too. Third visit to the 417 Bike Park / Flyup 417 Project this year. Jay and I had Friday off and waited 'til the last minute to book, so see if the weather was going to be OK. It was borderline, but we went for it and were lucky. It was coming down stair rods when we were first having a cuppa in the cafe, but it basically cleared up when we made a start and the sun came out and the rain pretty much stayed away after that. The 417 trails are mostly dressed hard pack, so despite the heavy rain (and days of rain earlier in the week) the reds and blues were running sweet. The rock gardens seemed more pronounced in places as they had "risen" up.. presumably because of the surface around them being washed away a bit. I quite liked it to be honest, made it a better challenge, but maybe not everyone's cup of tea. The natural parts of the blacks were a bit of a slop-fest, but again just makes for a different type of challenge and was good fun! The new trails are open and bedded in, so was able to ride the whole park today having only seen them but not been able to ride them on the last visit back in May. We were wondering how the uplift would work, so basically they have built a small piece of link trail so you can fly part way down, but the Uplift pickup is exclusively that the bottom of the original trails, so worth noting that from Dubby Skipper and Blue Raccoon you ride past the Car Park and down this new little bit of trail to get on. The uplift does not stop at the barn to get you, which, on a busy day especially, wouldn't work anyway. The rebound on the rear shock gradually gave up the ghost as the day wore on and the GT was bouncing me around like a pogo by the last few runs! She's ready for her winter service now, after being hammered quite well for the whole year. All in all, another fine Downhill Day at the 417 Bike Park! That's probably it for this year, especially with the shock situation,. so looking forward to getting the GT back up to snuff with the help of my LBS over the early part of next year and roll on 2019! Keep on ridin'! 😀 🤟 👍 🚴♂️ 🏔 💥
