The Ant Mimicking Spider Myrmarachne, a fascinating genus of jumping spiders, has perfected the art of mimicry to resemble ants. During my recent observations, I encountered a spider that strikingly resembled Myrmarachne formicaria. Although I am not entirely certain of its classification, as my findings are based on only two study papers, the anatomical details and characteristics I noted align closely with those of M. formicaria. Notably, this species is among the few in the Myrmarachne genus found outside the tropical regions. My investigation into this intriguing spider led me to the work of Benoy Krishna Tikader (1928–1994), an esteemed Indian arachnologist and zoologist who was considered a leading authority on Indian spiders. He served at the Zoological Survey of India and authored the Handbook of Indian Spiders in 1987. This book, which I am now eagerly seeking, promises to be a treasure trove of knowledge on the spiders of the Indian subcontinent. 📸 Canon EOS R8 🔭 Laowa 25mm f2.8 Ultra Macro on 5x 💡 Godox V860 iii C with Radiantdiffuser 📍 Chandigarh, India. ⚙️ 1/30 f/8 ISO 4000, manual focus 📐 7 mm 🌥 Cloudy afternoon 🛠️ Video processed and cleaned in Adobe Premium pro as it was shot at 4000 ISO
