Hop onboard while Steve Rodie gives a tour and progress report on his latest version of a prototype-freelanced western railroad, set in the fall of 1955 when both diesel and steam locomotives worked the 3% ruling grade across the Rocky Mountains. Along the way you will pick up many tips and lessons learned regarding building benchwork, roadbed, wiring, scenery, backdrops and operations on this ambitious project. The layout focuses on the operations of the Montana & Colorado Southern Railway and the narrow gauge Henry’s Fork Central, both hypothetical subsidiaries of the Northern Pacific (NP). Other modeled railroads include the NP, Milwaukee Road (MILW), Union Pacific (UP) and the Denver and Rio Grande Western (D&RGW). There is something in this layout tour for everyone!
