A Prayer for Deliverance received its UK premiere in Tenebrae’s eponymous tour in 2023. Atlanta-based composer Joel Thompson wrote this setting of Psalm 13 in 2021 during the Covid-19 pandemic when he was moved by the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor at the hands of the police and the shooting of Ahmaud Arbery. It is a bold, ambitious and moving piece, and one which is now firmly part of Tenebrae's core repertoire.
