The design of bearings and the process of adjusting bearings and axial clearance of the spindle of the machine MN-80 are shown in detail. I invite you to watch other videos on my channel in playlists “Lathe MN-80. Modernization": • Токарный станок МН-80. Модернизация “Machine tools. Repair and refinement. Modernization": • Станки. Ремонт и доработки. Модернизация I invite you to my channel: https://www.youtube.com/my_videos?ar=... Address of this video: • Токарный станок МН 80. РЕГУЛИРОВАНИЕ ... Front and rear bearings are bronze bushings. Along the generators, they have a cut and incisions to increase their compliance. Therefore, the bearings can be squeezed and unclenched. The outer surface of the bearings and the inner surface of the headstock housing, into which the bearings are inserted, are tapered. Therefore, when the bearings move inside the housing, they are compressed, their inner diameter decreases and the radial clearance between the bearing and the spindle decreases. By design, the front and rear bearings are slightly different. In order to move the front bearing left or right, it has a thread on both ends, onto which the adjusting nuts are screwed. If you tighten or unscrew the nuts, the bearing will move left or right, and its inner diameter and radial clearance between the bearing spindle will change. The left bearing has only one nut for adjusting the radial clearance. And it is wound not on the bearing, but on the case of the front headstock itself. The bearings at the top have a dovetail groove. An insert of the same shape with an internal thread is inserted into it. When a bearing with an insert is installed in the housing and a screw is screwed into the insert through the housing, from above, this screw pulls the insert upward, bursts the bearing and presses it against the internal conical surface of the PB. When adjusting the bearings, before you begin to twist the adjusting nuts on both bearings, these screws must be loosened, unscrewed by about 1-2 turns to release the liner so that it ceases to burst the bearing. Then you can twist the adjusting nuts. Before starting the adjustment of radial clearances, it is necessary to unscrew the nut, which adjusts the axial clearance of the spindle, after loosening the locking screw. In accordance with the instructions for the machine, the radial clearance in the front bearing should be 0.01 mm. About the back nothing is said. I make the same clearance in the rear bearing - 0.01 mm. I control the gaps with the indicator and lever. When the lever reaches 300 mm from the spindle and the force on the lever is 3 kg, I have a clearance of 0.01 mm. The video shows how I make such a clearance on the front bearing using the approximation method. It is shown that with a gap of 3 times less than the recommended, equal to only 0.003 mm, that is, 3 microns, the machine is working, and after 5 minutes of operation its temperature rises by only 5 °. It is shown that with a gap of 4 times the recommended equal to 0.04 mm, the machine also works well, and the part is good. It is shown how to quickly and easily estimate the radial clearance without an indicator. Described in detail and shown how to adjust the axial clearance of the spindle using a special nut. She presses the friction ring through the pulley to the front of the front bearing. When tightening the nut, the axial clearance decreases. I hope that after watching this video, even inexperienced owners of the MN-80 machines will be able to adjust the headstock bearings and axial clearance themselves. This video may be useful for owners of the TV-16 machine with sliding bearings.
