Read description for more information or ask in the comments section below. ------ ABJD/ BJD generally refers to a type of ball-jointed dolls that are made of polyurethane resin. The dolls are predominantly produced in Asia and are characterized by their ball and socket joints that are strung together with elastic cords. The first commercially produced BJD was released in 1999 by Volks, a Japanese company based in Kyoto specializing in garage kits. Since then, other companies mainly from Japan, South Korea and China have started producing their own line of BJDs. As the dolls are more intended for adult collectors, they can cost anywhere between a few hundred US dollars and well over a thousand dollars, depending on the brand, quality and rarity of the doll. In the beginning, BJDs were made in 1/3 scale (about 60 cm tall) but as they became popular, smaller dolls like the one in this video and bigger dolls of up to 90 cm tall were produced. Most BJDs are anatomically correct and have lifelike facial features influenced by Japanese anime. The dolls are also highly customisable, depending on one's skill, the doll's look can be altered by easily changing the eyes and wig or through more complex procedures like repainting the face and modifying doll parts by sanding or adding epoxy putty.
