I think this challenge can be best summarized by “Unfortunately this was not humanly possible” “Until” Rules are in vid, but in general terms No food Die = delete Honor Clause (If it feels like cheating it is) No Forsaken Powers No Meaningful Progression Skips (Ashlands weapons for lower tier bosses etc) Blind Seed First, I'll start off with thanking everyone for the support. Especially @ThreadMenace, @Xpert-Malfunction, @henrik9658, @terratanzanite and @SnazzyjonesGaming. This challenge had a pretty big mental toll on me, especially because I'd be in college studying chemical engineering which is brutal in itself and consumed much of my time, and then to go home and be gaming until 3am and then waking up at 6am, was just a lot. The challenge just required so much time and effort. Right off the bat, the no food run is already difficult. Without food or potions, you have no way of regaining hp, which means that you have to be able to get a fermenter with only 25 hp. Fall damage, tree damage, and enemy damage all have to be avoided at all times. Essentially playing the game at a no hit level. All that aside once you have health potions it's not too difficult. Then the Swamp happens, Aboms one shot, wet debuff really sucks with your limited stamina bar, and you always have to make sure you have full hp, or you really risk dying to something silly. Bonemass is no hit which is another barrier to overcome. As if the swamp wasn't hard enough, the Mountains come screaming at you with basically everything being a one shot. Only thing that doesn't one shot you at this point are the drakes and bats. This biome is straight sadistic in a no food run. Moder also sucks, the boss is even more buggy on very hard, because of increased size, and the hitboxes in general just suck. Plains is honestly not too bad? Like sure berserkers, shamans, lox and melee fulings all one shot, and yag is 15-25 minutes of no hit, but it's all pretty simple? Like if you have good combat mechanics and awareness, melee fulings are not a problem, and the atgeir just dominates everything in the plains exceptionally well. Mistlands is just straight sadistic, while there's not a lot of one shot enemies compared to the plains or mountains, it's just far more complex and intricate. One bad infested mines and you're back to the meadows. It really tests your ability to stay resilient. I often found myself getting fatigued in the mistlands too, and I'd make silly errors like just not dodging a seeker rko slam, or whatever. The Queen is also just straight sadistic, luckily for me, I've spent hours upon hours grinding this boss. Whether it was fighting x amount of queens on very hard at the same time, or doing no buffs Queen, I've completely mastered the fight. Admittedly, I got rather fortunate on this run, honestly I should've died at least twice against the Queen this run, but I just got lucky, and sometimes that's just what you need. I've had far better no food VH queen fights, but it's aight, I'm still very pleased. The Ashlands, how I despise you. Think you're clear? Nope a morgen spawns on you and then suddenly there's three warriors with a fallen valkyrie and you're just dead. The Ashlands requires you to be able to kill things fast and in an efficient matter. I only have 50 stam, I just don't have the firepower to do that. Morgen encounters are a 1-2 minute scenario. I cannot describe how difficult the Ashlands is on no food permadeath. There's just so much pressure, stress, and nerves for the entirety of it. It also means that the run is anywhere between 60-75 hours deep, and dying means losing all of those late nights and doing it all over again. All of that work for nothing. Just the mental resilience to keep trying and trying is insane. And if it couldn't get any worse, you HAVE to play perfectly. Mistake = death. I am kind of sad that much of the Ashlands on no food degrades into bow spam and being at ranged. Necessary though Fader. The amount of skill required to do no food fader on very hard is insane. Sure I've done all these Fader challenges, but those are grinded attempts, and typically one out of the many hundreds. For example, no buffs Fader took me almost 300? attempts to do. I actually died to Fader twice doing this challenge, Rip 62 and 43, here's rip 62 • Rip62 Note: The time spent on this run was combined with a previous challenge, since they are so similar and I have yet to complete the first challenge (maybe you can guess what it is), I lumped in the time and the attempts into this, because without the knowledge and experience I gained from the undisclosed challenge, I wouldn't be able to do this. If you have any questions just ask, I'm more than happy to answer or post more content! 00:00 - Intro 1:47 - Meadows/Black Forest 13:10 - The Swamp 21:47 - The Mountains 32:28 - The Plains 48:00 - The Mistlands 57:50 - The Queen 1:14:40 - The Ashlands 1:25:20 - Fader 1:41:50 - Outro
