🎥 Try Time Wentworthville is not just a rugby league team, it’s a powerful example of inclusion, community spirit, and breaking down barriers. Based in Sydney’s west, the team is part of the Try Time initiative, a pioneering program that gives people with intellectual and physical disabilities the opportunity to play rugby league in a safe, supportive, and structured environment. Try Time fosters a sense of belonging, builds self-esteem, and nurtures the physical and emotional development of its players. For the Wentworthville Magpies, it’s about much more than sport, it’s about friendships, growth, and showing the world that everyone deserves a shot at greatness on and off the field. In our series of interviews, we hear from team captain Tarik, whose passion and leadership inspire his teammates every day. Tarik talks about what Try Time means to him and how it’s helped him grow as a person and as a player. Alongside him, his teammates share their excitement about game day, the camaraderie they experience, and the joy of being part of a team that celebrates effort over outcome. We also sit down with the dedicated team manager, whose commitment to the players and the program reflects the heart of what Try Time is all about. From training logistics to mentoring, the manager shares insights into the behind-the-scenes work that ensures every player feels seen, supported, and celebrated. Stay tuned as we post these inspiring interviews, voices of resilience, joy, and true team spirit.
