On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, will receive the Axel Springer Award 2025. The award ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. (CEST) and will be streamed live on YouTube and on the websites of BILD and WELT. Sam Altman is regarded as one of the world’s most influential voices on Artificial Intelligence. With his vision of a responsibly deployed technology, he has been shaping the global debate about the opportunities and risks of AI. Under his leadership, OpenAI has played a decisive role in bringing artificial intelligence from research labs into everyday life – always guided by the principle that technological progress must serve humanity. Highlights of the evening will include a live interview with Axel Springer CEO Mathias Döpfner, a performance by by the Berliner Barock Solisten, an ensemble of the Berlin Philharmonic, and a laudatory speech by Karsten Wildberger, German Federal Minister for Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation.
