There’s nothing like disaster in cataract surgery. These are complications which happen very rarely. These are corrected using a cataract surgeries. If in the early stages, they can manage with the drops. If they doesn’t responding to these drops, we do a corneal transplant. In corneal transplantation, we have a single thickness corneal transplant. If the cornea is damage in cataract surgeries, then only the endothelial layer is there. So only replacement of this endothelial layer which is 50 –100 microns, it is not needed to do a complete corneal transplant. These kind of procedures are called DSAEK or DMEK or PEEK. What it effectively means is it removes one or two layers which is approximately one tenth of the corneal thickness and this is implanted into the eye of the patient. This is a transfer procedure, no sutures are used, less medications are required, but in a post-operative, it is very difficult period post operatively. So it is very safe to undergo these surgeries.
