"Capio" is a song that singer-songwriter Anneli Drecker brought to the band. She composed it at the age of 15 on a church organ in the Catholic church in Tromsø, just after Sunday mass. Her German father, Peter, was the church organist and allowed her to take his seat. In a previous interview, Drecker recalled: “As I played and sang, a nun came up to the gallery where the organ was and hushed me. It is very difficult to be quiet on a church organ. I had no recording device, so I had to memorize the song until I got home to my piano and mobile tape recorder.” Drecker co-wrote the lyrics with her vocal coach and fellow musician, Tove Karoline Knutsen, who spoke Spanish. She wanted the lyrics to convey a dystopian vision of the future and to be sung in a language with Latin roots—hence the mix of Spanish and English. When Geir Jenssen and Nils Johansen later heard Anneli playing and singing Capio on a Yamaha DX7 in their bedroom studio in Tromsø, they decided to include it on the band’s debut album, White-Out Conditions. Nils and Geir added extra synth parts and effects, and the entire song was recorded in less than an hour. Capio Capio Sera' la candidez Sera' la niña La historia pasa Well, I'll love my life until the very hour when I'll be broken into the cold Sera' la candidez, la historia pasa And another fall Y en el jardin, yeah it will be cold Someone who'll end it all Someone who'll fall Someone who'll end it all Somebody's fault Y en el jardin, yeah Anneli Drecker / Geir Bjornar Jenssen / Nils P.
